Reflecting on 2023

What an exciting time for the practice!

As 2023 draws to a close, I have so much news to share. We’re proud to announce that yogi Jewels Peña will be joining us to offer classes, with a menu of options including: a trauma informed class, a meditation class, a mommy and me class, a movement and mobility class, and a pelvic floor class. She’ll also be available for private sessions.

Starting in January, the practice will host a clinical supervisor who’s going to be running a residency program in perinatal and reproductive mental health. Initially we’ll have Virginia-based clinicians but the intent is to expand to other states – so keep an eye out for those announcements in the coming months, as we work to expand access to the perinatal, fertility and reproductive space.

As the practice’s capacity expands, I’m also working to bolster my slots for fertility counseling cases (one of my two priorities, along with Gottman-style couples counseling).

Some of these details are still being worked out, so stay tuned for news throughout 2024 as the expansion continues. Just know that everything I do will be focused on finding ways to keep showing up for the perinatal and reproductive community, to fill the gap in these essential services, both by expanding what I do in the Virgina area and by extending my reach beyond this geographical region.

On the subject of extending my reach: I’m thrilled to announce that the new edition of my workbook, How to Healthily Transition Back to Work After Having a Baby, will be hot off the presses before the end of the year. Fully updated and inspired by the second edition of Employed Motherhood, this workbook uses a holistic approach to the perinatal period. It guides new mothers through exercises and activities meant to help you take space around a momentous transition that is often rushed or overlooked in our society. My hope is that it helps you – or a new working mom in your circle – approach the return to work gently and with an open mind.

Many thanks to all of you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. Happiest holidays to you and yours!
