2023 I See You
Hi all, and Happy New Year.
I’m excited to be starting 2023 with two major priorities that will inform everything I do over the coming twelve months.
First and foremost, I’m devoting effort to my practice. I want to show up in the best possible way for three communities: the perinatal community, the infertility community and for ambitious women and their relationships.
In addition to showing up to work everyday (and loving what I do), I’m also committed to my continuing education. The most significant endeavor is to start my applied Psy-D project, focused on the experiences of an infertility diagnosis. But I’ll also be participating in professional events and training which, this Spring, includes Sharon Covington’s intensive fertility counseling workshop, the Reproductive Medicine Conference, as well as the level-3 Gottman training.
My individual and couples counseling sessions are such a source of satisfaction, but I see an ever-growing need for these services. There’s a shortage of mental health providers nationwide, but that limitation is all the more dramatic these specialties.
That’s why my other priority for the year will be to continue to amplify my work through communications – to provide resources and self-guided therapy for those who can’t find a provider or don’t have the means to pay for one-on-one help.
My blog will continue to delve into topics I see come up in my practice. It won’t shy away from tough subjects, like relationship discernment, class anxiety and the unique experience of infertility.
At the same time, I’m excited to announce that 2023 will bring a new edition of Employed Motherhood, updated to account for the seismic shift in motherhood, work and family life caused by the pandemic – with an accompanying workbook to follow later in the year. The world has evolved dramatically since I first published Employed Motherhood, and these updates are my effort to honor that evolution.
I’m looking forward to how this year will unfold, and I appreciate you choosing to come along with me!
